Donation & Refund Policy

Effective Date: July 2026

Anchored Pathways to Higher Education is committed to responsible stewardship of all contributions. Donations support the organization’s mission to help families navigate education and career pathways with clarity, confidence, and trusted guidance. This policy explains how donations are handled and how refund requests may be addressed.

Use of Donations

Donations made to Anchored Pathways to Higher Education help support the organization’s charitable mission and related nonprofit operations. Contributions may be used where they are most needed unless a donation is clearly designated for a specific approved purpose. Gift acceptance policies are a common nonprofit practice for setting expectations around how contributions are handled.

Donations may support activities such as:

  • Family guidance and navigation support.

  • Bilingual workshops and community outreach.

  • Partnerships with community organizations, schools, and faith communities.

  • Development of community navigator training, educational tools, and program resources.

  • Organizational capacity, communications, events, and other mission-aligned operating needs.

Anchored Pathways will make reasonable efforts to use designated gifts in accordance with donor intent when such restrictions are clearly stated and accepted by the organization. If a specific program, activity, or purpose becomes impracticable, unavailable, or no longer aligned with operational needs, Anchored Pathways may redirect the funds to a similar mission-aligned purpose unless otherwise required by law or a written gift agreement. Policies on donor intent and gift handling are a standard part of nonprofit stewardship.

Tax Deductibility

Anchored Pathways to Higher Education is recognized as a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be tax-deductible as permitted by law. Donors should consult a tax professional regarding the deductibility of their contributions and any implications of a refunded gift.

Donation Processing

Online donations may be processed through secure third-party donation or payment platforms. Anchored Pathways does not store full credit card, debit card, or bank account information directly on its website unless clearly stated through a secure service-provider workflow.

Donors will typically receive a confirmation or receipt after a transaction is completed. Donation processing, receipts, and timing may depend in part on the systems and policies of the third-party platform used.

Recurring Donations

If Anchored Pathways offers recurring giving, donors are responsible for reviewing the frequency, amount, and timing of recurring donations before submitting payment information. Donors should manage recurring gifts through the applicable donation platform when possible or contact Anchored Pathways promptly if assistance is needed. Refund policies for recurring donations often limit refunds to recent charges and require prompt notice.

Anchored Pathways may review refund requests related to recurring donations on a case-by-case basis, especially when a donor believes a recurring charge was made in error, was unauthorized, or continued after a timely cancellation request.

Refund Requests

Anchored Pathways understands that errors can occasionally occur in online giving. As a general matter, donations are considered final and non-refundable, except in limited circumstances such as an accidental duplicate gift, an incorrect amount, an unauthorized charge, a technical processing error, or another exceptional situation reviewed by the organization. Written refund policies commonly frame donations as generally final while allowing limited case-by-case exceptions.

If a donor believes a donation was made in error or requires correction, the donor should contact Anchored Pathways as soon as possible and preferably within 7 days of the original transaction. Refund requests submitted after that period may still be reviewed at the organization’s discretion, but prompt notice improves the ability to resolve the issue.

Refund requests should include enough information for the organization to identify the transaction, such as:

  • Donor name.

  • Date of donation.

  • Donation amount.

  • Payment method used.

  • Any email address used for the transaction.

  • Reason for the refund request.

Anchored Pathways may request additional information, including reasonable proof of identity, before processing a refund request. If a refund is approved, the donation will generally be returned using the original method of payment when possible. Many nonprofit refund policies use the original payment method as the default refund approach.

Processing Fees

If a refund is issued, third-party payment processing fees, platform fees, currency conversion costs, chargeback-related costs, or similar transaction expenses may not be recoverable by Anchored Pathways and may therefore be deducted from the refunded amount where permitted and applicable. Donation platforms and payment processors often impose fees that are not returned to the nonprofit when a transaction is reversed or disputed.

Chargebacks and Disputes

Donors are encouraged to contact Anchored Pathways directly before initiating a credit card dispute or chargeback so that the organization has an opportunity to review and resolve the matter. Chargebacks and reversed transactions may result in additional fees charged by payment processors or platforms.

Events and Restricted Gifts

If a donation is tied to a specific event, sponsorship, campaign, or designated purpose, refund outcomes may depend on the nature of the gift, the associated communications, and whether the funds have already been committed or used. If Anchored Pathways fails to honor a clearly documented restricted gift purpose, that may be relevant to a refund review. Guidance for nonprofits notes that misuse of donor-restricted funds can create an obligation to return the gift.

Policy Changes

Anchored Pathways to Higher Education may update this Donation & Refund Policy from time to time as the organization grows, adopts new fundraising tools, expands payment methods, or revises its stewardship practices. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Posting donor-facing policies publicly is encouraged as a transparency practice.
