Help first-generation and Spanish-speaking families navigate college, career, military, and financial aid decisions.

At Anchored Pathways, volunteers are the reason families don't have to figure this out alone. If you're community-minded, dependable, and want to make a real difference in East Harris County, we want to hear from you.

​

Because some volunteers may interact with student and family information, all volunteers are expected to respect confidentiality, protect privacy, and follow Anchored Pathways’ communication and data-handling expectations.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

We currently have three Volunteer Navigator roles available.

Role 1: Intake & Routing

Be the first friendly face families meet.

 

You'll help new families feel welcomed and connected from the start.

 

You'll:

  • Welcome new families

  • Answer basic questions

  • Gather intake information

  • Connect families to the right support

 

Great fit if you are:

  • Friendly and organized

  • Bilingual (preferred)

  • Comfortable communicating with new people

Role 2: Family Engagement

Help families stay connected and supported.

 

You'll be the consistent, caring presence that keeps families engaged throughout the program.

 

You'll:

  • Check in with families

  • Share resources and reminders

  • Encourage participation

  • Help build trust and belonging

  • Dependable and compassionate

  • A good listener

  • Respectful of confidentiality

Role 3: Pathway Support

Help families move from confusion to action.

 

You'll help families compare options, track deadlines, and take real next steps toward college, career, or military options.

 

You'll:

  • Compare college, career, and military options

  • Track deadlines

  • Support applications and planning

  • Connect families with resources

 

Great fit if you are:​​

  • Detail-oriented

  • Comfortable learning new systems

  • Interested in education

  • A college student or professional looking to give back

  • ​Familiar with military pathways (ROTC, enlisted service, veteran benefits) — a plus, not required

What to Expect

Here's what happens after you apply:

  1. You complete the volunteer application

  2. Our team reviews your information

  3. We reach out if there's a strong fit

  4. Selected volunteers complete a brief onboarding before getting started

 

We do our best to respond in a timely way. Not every applicant will move forward immediately — some may be placed on a waitlist or considered for future opportunities.

Volunteer Commitment

All volunteers are expected to:

  • Complete any required training

  • Follow Anchored Pathways' communication guidance

  • Respect confidentiality and boundaries

  • Refer questions outside their role to AP leadership

Time commitment varies by role. Some are project-based, some are monthly. We'll talk through the details during onboarding.
